I’m an Integrative Counsellor. This means I’m experienced in a few different methods and there is no single therapy I use for everyone. See Psychology Today: What Is Integrative therapy? for more. Your problems are unique to you and require a unique path. So I work with each person to create a custom approach that works for them. I’m happy to discuss with you which therapy you would like to try, and often use a mixture:
If the method we’re trying is not working, please tell me and we will try something else. It’s well-known that the rapport between client and counsellor is crucial, so if our sessions are not working for you, let me know. I can help you find another counsellor more suitable for your needs.
Types of therapy or techniques I employ include:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Grief Work
- Nonviolent Communication
- Conflict Resolution/Communication techniques
- Journalling, Art Therapy
- Trauma Informed Therapy
- and aspects of
- Emotionally Focused Therapy
- Somatic (body) work
- Jungian psychology (e.g. dreams, shadow work)
If there is a particular therapeutic approach that you wish to try, let me know.
